CODING & MARKING

Batch and expiry-date printing for food packaging

Start with the packaging surface and the code you need to print. The printer, ink and installation must work together at the actual speed and conditions of your line.

Discuss your application

Two options to assess

KGK CCS3000L uses continuous inkjet printing and provides date, time and numbering functions. RYNAN offers thermal inkjet systems for coding and marking, including food and beverage applications. Compare them using the actual packaging material, print position and code layout; a technology name alone does not establish suitability.

  1. Provide a packaging sample and code layout
  2. Assess printer, ink and printhead position
  3. Approve sample prints under production conditions

What we need to assess your line

  • Packaging material and surface finish
  • Code content: batch, production date, expiry date or barcode
  • Print area, character size and number of lines
  • Line speed and product movement at the printing point
  • Dry, chilled, wet or dusty operating conditions
  • Required adhesion, drying time and resistance during handling

A pack or product sample, layout drawing and short line video will help us review the installation.

Common questions

Can the same ink work on every packaging material?

Ask for a print trial on the actual material. Check the finished code after drying, handling and any storage conditions relevant to your product.

What should we provide for a barcode application?

Provide the required barcode format, encoded data, available print area and acceptance criteria. Include a sample of the packaging and its intended position on the line.
